The Cursa de Bombers de Barcelona enters a new chapter. The consortium formed by Prensa Ibérica, Relay Events and Sport Life Ibérica will organize and produce the event after winning a tender process launched by Barcelona City Council, with an ambitious roadmap: to strengthen the positioning that has made this race a benchmark in popular running.
The alliance brings together three complementary, first-class profiles. Relay Events contributes its experience in the executive production of major mass participation sporting events, with a track record that includes the Cursa d’El Corte Inglés, the Cursa Diagonal DiR and the Mitja de Sant Cugat. Sport Life Ibérica leads sports communication and lifestyle in Spain, with a community of 700,000 active athletes in its database and more than 3.6 million followers across social media channels. It also has extensive in-house experience in the executive organization and production of major sporting events, having developed renowned mass participation races such as... the Cursa de la Dona Central Lechera Asturiana, the Movistar Madrid Half Marathon, the Zurich Seville Marathon and the Cursa de Papá Noel. Prensa Ibérica, Spain’s leading regional and local information group, will contribute its amplification capabilities through its major publications, SPORT and El Periódico,with more than 20 million monthly unique users and 176 million page views between both publications, as well as its print media network and social media channels, reaching 9.9 million followers.
The first edition under this new structure is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, this year.. The event returns to its iconic route through the heart of Barcelona —Av. del Paral·lel, Gran Via, Ronda de Sant Pere and Via Laietana— with the start and finish located next to Parc de la Ciutadella.
Under the creative concept “The Heart That Never Stops”, the Cursa de Bombers 2026 presents a 360-degree experience for runners: from official training sessions and a pre-event digital campaign to brand activations, live audiovisual production and a Recovery Lab in the finish area. The official siren of the Barcelona Fire Department will mark the start of the race as the main new feature of this edition.
The project also includes a strong commitment to sustainability, with sustainable mobility, the use of electric and hybrid vehicles, selective waste management and the promotion of public transport as key pillars of the event.
The Cursa de Bombers de Barcelona is, together with the Barcelona Fire Department, a symbol of the city. This new chapter begins with the ambition of living up to this legacy and building on it to create a benchmark project for popular running in the years to come.
