The 27th edition of the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona, organised by PRENSA IBÉRICA, Relay Events and Sport Life Ibérica, will take place next Sunday, 8 November.

There is just one week to go until the starting horn sounds at Marquès de l’Argentera, and the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona has now confirmed its final figures. The 27th edition, taking place on Sunday, 8 November, will bring together 16,000 participants for one of the most special 10K races on the Catalan running calendar. It will also be the first edition organised by the joint venture formed by PRENSA IBÉRICA, Relay Events and Sport Life Ibérica.

The countdown will reach its first milestone on Wednesday, 4 November, at 12 noon, when the Museu dels Bombers will host the official presentation, chaired by journalist Alberto Montenegro. Those expected to attend include David Escudé, Barcelona City Council’s Sports Councillor; Joan Vehils, Director of the SPORT newspaper; Gemma Martínez, Director of El Periódico de Catalunya; Sebastià Massagué, Head of Barcelona’s Civil Protection, Prevention, Fire Extinguishing and Rescue Service; Anna Viladot, Vueling’s Communications Director, whose company will continue as the event’s main sponsor for a further three years; Mauro Llorens, from Relay Events; Mercè Rosich, President of the Catalan Athletics Federation; and athletes Marta Galimany and Bakr El Asri Mohsine.

The event will provide an opportunity to review the key highlights of this year’s edition: participation figures, the route and start arrangements, charity initiatives, the race expo and race bib collection, elite athletes and the Catalan 10K Road Running Championship. The official race T-shirt and medal, the event’s commitment to sustainability and the race app will also be unveiled.

The race expo and race bib collection will be set up on Passeig de Lluís Companys on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (CET). TMB will distribute 8,000 free single-journey tickets to participants who request one when collecting their race bib, as part of an initiative to encourage the use of public transport.

On Sunday, at 8:50 a.m. (CET), the horn of the Fire Brigade truck will mark the symbolic start of the event. At 9:00 a.m. (CET), participants will set off in four staggered waves, with a maximum of 90 minutes to complete a flat, fast course. The route runs along Paral·lel, Gran Via, Ronda de Sant Pere and Via Laietana before reaching the finish line next to Parc de la Ciutadella.

The average age of participants is 36, with the 30–39 age group accounting for the largest number of runners. In terms of gender, 60% of participants are men and 40% are women, meaning that around 6,400 female runners will be on the starting line. Another figure highlighting the race’s strong local roots is that 91% of participants come from the province of Barcelona.

A race with a big heart

As it does every year, the Cursa Bombers allocates one euro per participant to the charity initiatives run by Bombers Solidaris. In 2025, donations and fundraising challenges raised a total of €65,780, the highest amount in the event’s history.
