One of the most special races in Barcelona is getting closer and closer: next November 10, the Vueling Cursa de Bombers Barcelona will reach its 25th edition. This is why today we bring you 10 reasons to run with the firemen of Barcelona.

1. The most special
You can’t run alongside Barcelona’s firemen every day. Like in every edition, more than 350 members of the Fire Brigade are in charge of guiding all the runners, starting the race with their more than 20 kg of equipment.
2. Room for everyone
Despite having the presence of the firemen and women of Barcelona loading their oxygen cylinders, uniforms and helmets, the Vueling Cursa de Bombers Barcelona allows pros and anyone willing to push their limits to set their best times in a 10km run.
Irene Kwambai set the women’s record in 2005 with a time of 31′ 25”, while the men’s record came in 2010 with Josphat Menjo’s 27′ 04”.
3. Unstoppable growth
In 2023, 13,500 runners took part in the 24th edition of the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona, a figure that will be attempted to be surpassed this year.
The number of participating firefighters has also been growing, so everything points to the fact that in the 25th edition of the VCBB, the number of Corps members who will run with the equipment will also be exceeded, which last year was 300.
4. As charitable as always
The Vueling Cursa de Bombers is not only a great race at a sporting level, it is also one of the most emblematic for its solidarity aspect.
Since its creation, the VCBB has been linked to Bombers Solidaris, a non-profit organization formed by members of the Barcelona Fire Brigade that promotes various solidarity projects.
In the last edition of the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona, a total of €38,253 was collected, a large figure that will be attempted to be surpassed in this year’s edition.
5. As inclusive as always
As it could not be otherwise, the VCBB is open to everyone.
Various associations such as “Corre amb mi” or “Incluyendo Sonrisas” do not miss the appointment with the race and ensure that all participants satisfactorily meet the challenge of enjoying a festive 10km, whether in wheelchairs, adapted prams or with the help of firefighters, runners and members of the associations. The Bombers is for everyone.
6. Her race
The world of running is increasingly feminine and female participation in popular races has been increasing. The Bombers is no exception and the number of women who dare to run the 10km route is growing year after year: 38.40% of the runners in the last edition were women.
7. A big party
The VCBB is one of the most marked days in the calendars of all runners in the city, a day that no one wants to miss because it’s not just about running.
The start of the 24 editions has always been a great party. One of the most remembered is that of 2019, where Doctor Prats gave a small concert at the top of the starting arch and started the race to the rhythm of his hit “Les nits no moren mai” .
8. A big team
Reaching the 25 editions would have been impossible without the help of volunteers, an indispensable job that has been carried out by Volunteers 2,000 for years.
Bib collection at the shops, wardrobe coordination minutes before the race, management of the departure boxes so that all runners can enjoy the experience, refreshment points. The more than 100 volunteers are responsible for making the race a reality.
