The athlete from Sant Joan de Vilatorrada will participate the 25th edition of the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona after finishing in 25th position in the Olympic marathon
Meritxell Soler made history at the Olympic Games in Paris 2025. The champion of the Vueling Race Bombers Barcelona 2021 and 2022 finished the marathon in a time of 2:29:56, which helped her to finish in 25th position overall, the 8th among the Europeans and signing the third best historical mark by a Spanish athlete in a Olympics.
“I’m super happy. I finished in position number 25, not even in my wildest dreams! I was ranked 58, we knew that we had done a good preparation and that we were going to do better because I was training very well, but this it’s a marathon and you never know. Also, I’ve never done a marathon with an incline, but we managed it really well, I felt really good the whole time, which is what I wanted”, said the runner from Manresa after finishing the race. Soler also explained that despite the accumulated fatigue, she gave everything to achieve a very meritorious position. “With 10km to go, I knew I was in the 30th position and it was time to give it my all, die to try for a top 30, I’m very happy.”
The athlete from Manresa also made his joy clear on her Instagram account, assuring that the goal is now to run at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
I AM OLYMPIC!!!
Now I can say it out loud!
What a marathon, what an atmosphere, how many emotions, and how worth it all the work done to get here!
25th in the world, running side by side with all those athletes that I had been watching on TV for a long time and who are world leaders.
Many thanks to everyone who encouraged me and thought with me, both at the circuit and from home. It’s been a dream!
Goodbye, Paris!
