  • She achieves the 3rd best Spanish time in Marathon history and the Olympic minimum.

  •

Manresan athlete Meritxell Soler is in luck!

This past weekend she achieved the 3rd best Spanish time in Marathon history, as well as the Olympic minimum. This is her personal best time and it turns her as the Spanish Sub-champion.

She finished the 42.195 km of the Seville Marathon with an extraordinary time of 2:24:57. She came very close to the time of another Catalan athlete and also well-known from our race: the 2:26:24 achieved by Marta Galimany at the Valencia Marathon in December 2022. Our sports director, Roger Roca, was a fundamental pillar to achieve this rècord.

Additionally, Meritxell obtained the minimums for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and for the Budapest World Championships to be held next August.

The athlete from Club Atlètic Manresa won the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona in 2021 and 2022. In 2021 with a time of 33:33, followed by Douae Ouboukir in 2nd place and Kitina Silva in 3rd. In the 2022 race, she stopped the clock at 33:20 with the same podium as the previous edition: Douae Ouboukir and the Catalan Kitina Silva closing the podium.

Unfortunately, Meritxell was unable to participate in the 24th edition of the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona due to an injury, and we missed her greatly. We hope to see her again this year flying through the streets of Barcelona!

We look forward to seeing you all at the 25th edition of the Running celebration in Barcelona, the most supportive race!
