• More than 15,000 runners have participated in one of the most consolidated dates in the running calendar.
  • The race was overturned with those affected by the DANA, with a minute of silence before the start and several financial donations by Firefighters Solidaris.

Once again, the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona has been synonymous with running and solidarity. More than 15,000 male and female runners and 300 members of the Barcelona Fire Brigade have filled the city’s streets to take part in one of the city’s most well-known and popular races, with all numbers on sale sold out weeks in advance. “We are proud to support the Cursa Bombers de Barcelona for the fourth consecutive year, an initiative that not only reflects our strong commitment to the territory and people, but also embodies the values of solidarity, improvement and community that we share ”, explains Sandra Hors, Director of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Sustainability at Vueling. “This collaboration strengthens our bond with the city, which is an essential part of our identity.”

No surprises

Two more than well-known names from the Catalan scene have been the winners of the test. Adam Maijó, who already won the event in 2022, won with a time of 29:27. “It’s a pleasure to come to the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona. Firefighters make this race magical by everything they do, by how they cheer. We are stringing together good weeks of training, with good feelings for the upcoming competitions. After winning in 2022, the goal this year was to win. Let’s see if I can enjoy this special race again next year”.
Meritxell Soler, who also won in 2022, won the women’s category with a time of 32:57. “I’m very happy with the race because my goal was to win and I didn’t expect to go below 33 minutes. Yes, it’s a very good circuit, but at the time of the season I’m in I didn’t expect such good weather, so I’m doubly happy. After the Olympics I rested a bit. Starting again and seeing that the new season starts so well makes me even happier.”

Anna Torras (35:48) and Marc Fernández (29:56) were the winners in the Under-23 category.

A memory for those affected by DANA

One of the pillars of the Fire Brigade is solidarity and in this year’s edition, DANA, which mainly affected the Valencian Community, has been the protagonist. Before the departure of the Barcelona firemen and women, the ones in charge of starting the 10km, an emotional minute of silence was observed. In addition, Bombers Solidaris, a non-profit organization formed by members of the Barcelona Fire Brigade, has made several donations to entities that have worked with those affected by DANA: €1,000 to EREC, which has been working since the first days in the search for victims with dogs and running out of water, €1,000 to ASL, which is coordinating humanitarian aid and enabling spaces and €2,000 to Bombers pel Món, a Valencian NGO that has been coordinating volunteers and all kinds of help These are just some of the solidarity initiatives of the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona, which this year hopes to exceed €40,000 raised.
